Homicide of Financial Operator Linked to Drug Cartels

On Tuesday, February 4, 2025, a video was revealed showing the execution of Mario Alberto Jiménez Castro, known as El Kastor, in Calimaya, State of Mexico. He was believed to be the financial operator of Los Chapitos in the region.

The security video captured the moment when a hitman approached El Kastor in the residential subdivision Villas San Fernando, in the neighborhood of San Andrés Ocotlán. The hitman, wearing a balaclava, shot the brother-in-law of influencer Jesús Miguel Vivanco García, alias “El Jasper,” in an incident that lasted around two minutes.

In the images circulated on social media, the hitman is seen stealthily approaching El Kastor, who was taken by surprise by the gunfire. After the homicide, the assassin and his accomplice fled in a sedan.

State authorities arrived at the scene and identified the victim as Mario Jiménez, the alleged financial operator of Los Chapitos in the area. Jiménez Castro was involved in managing funds from the trafficking of fentanyl from Mexico to the United States and had an arrest warrant with a reward of one million dollars.

His role in the criminal group consisted of coordinating the fundraising from traffickers in the U.S. and transferring the money through cryptocurrencies to facilitate financial operations. When he was killed, a fake driver's license in the name of Gerardo Castro Medina was found in his possession, with an address in Culiacán, Sinaloa.
